It's Elemental My Dear

Welcome back, this post will be bigger than most.  Thank my druid player.  Druids, am I right?  So needy.  So many forms to take, so little time spent in each one.  In this case my player is now able to turn into any elemental they want.  Woo high level play. So I needed to churn out several minis in record time 'cuz I like to procrastinate.  In desperation I turned to my old friend: hot glue.

FIRE!
WATER!
CLOUD!?

Quite simply, these are just hot glue, built up slowly in layers and then painted.  Quick, dirty and usable.  The bases are once again dollar store craft wood cut to 2" x 2".  All three minis cost me maybe $1.50 TOTAL and only took enough time for the glue and paint to dry.  All in all, very easy and cost effective.  I was tempted to do all 4 this way. But I didn't. And where is the earth elemental you ask?  Greedy, aren'tcha?  Well he's waiting below.  He's the black sheep of the elemental family and took slightly more work.  But he still shows up.  And he looks pretty good doing it I might add.

Oh ya.  Made of stone.  Or in this case made of cork.  I love working with corks as they're cheap, work great for certain textures and take paint easily.  They're just super easy to work with.  If you're not a wine drinker just ask your friend for corks.  You know the one.  We all have that one friend.

What you'll need:
  • corks
  • craft knife
  • a hammer (optional)
  • hot glue
  • cheap paints
  • dollar store craft sand (optional)
  • basing material
The tutorial is fairly simple and will vary depending on your cork pieces.  Just keep in mind to shhot for a humanoid figure (or don't, I'm not your mom.)  Now you take some corks and break them up. A hammer breaks them into nice rough pieces but a craft knife is easier and quieter.  Finally, paint them as rocks.  Glue them into some vaguely humanoid shape and voila.  You can also glue the base and dip it into craft sand to make a rougher terrain look. As always this is optional, like every step.

  Enjoy your OP druid forms.
